Henry love this one and asks for it again and again (20 mo)
I liked this book, but there was just something missing for me. Something about the characters....I felt the older Jacob character was developed enough for me to care about him. The others, not so much. I could appreciate the parallel to the Jacob story in the Bible, and that was was food for a lot of thought; something to explore further. But overall, something was just missing....I wish I could put it into words, but I am never very good at doing that. It has to do with the characters. We did get to know about their histories and who they were and why, but I would have liked even more character development, I guess. I will say after I read the Author's Note at the end of the book, I appreciated the whole story on a whole different level, though. In fact, the Author's Note was the best part of the book for me...just finding out where she got her ideas, and then the stuff about Thomas Edison...I had no idea about all that. That was fascinating, and yet disturbing to me.
Uno de los libros más equilibrados del maestro. No solo los personajes son interesantes, el manejo del suspenso es excelente, el equilibrio entre lo real y lo sobrenatural es perfecto, sino que tiene un muy buen final ... uno de los talones de Aquiles del autor.
She is even better to hear in person if you ever get a chance to attend a lecture by her.
