One of the most powerful and uplifting stories I've ever read. This book is a classic in this genre, and depicts what was to be a rather vivid account of a mountain climb between two friends. It turns out to be a tale of human desperation at it's peak, where shear determination, and ultimately triumph - both in terms of reaching the summit, but mostly in the descent, after a somewhat horrific fall. If you liked Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist and the make-believe story surrounding someone finding their inner-self, then this is the true version, set amongst a pristine and untouched world. This story is similar in many respects to the aforementioned - except that Joe Simpson's account is is all true, however unbelievably so!
Slow but a good feminist fantasy of an Amazon tribe
