I listened to this book after seeing it on several lists on this site. I really enjoyed it. The author skillfully juxtaposed the history of the World's Fair with the creepy story of the mass murderer living in the midst of this landmark event. I really enjoyed it.
Fun little book I bought Colby eons ago about this tiny make-believe nation in Europe who becomes a super-power through a variety of mishap adventures. Fun read. Quick read. Written (I believe) in the 1940s so has a very nostalgic feel towards language and writing... and I enjoyed that aspect. Seems that today we develop way more complicated plot lines and emotion... so felt like that was missing but still a fun book to provide a break from the depressing.
