I'm always in the mood for a good mystery. It's my genre of choice and Instruments of Darkness did not disappoint me. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Wanda McCaddon and I was very much entertained by her performance and different accents. She sounds a lot like Judy Dench. There was a perfect amount of murder and blood, and charaters to wonder about. The two main characters, Mrs. Westerman and Mr. Crowther could have turned their backs on everything going on around them but they stepped up in the name of justice. They're vunerable and valuable characters, and the story wouldn't let them ...run away from unpleasantness. I figured out early on who the murder(s) were but the ending was worth the wait. This is the beginning of a series and you can't do a series without good, strong MAIN characters. This was Imogen Robertson's first book and it was designed to impress, which it did enough to read book 2.
