I took a break for a little while half way through this book because it wasn't very interesting, but I picked it up again later and I'm happy I finished it. At first I thought this was a slightly depressing book about farming wheat but now I realize it actually had a much deeper meaning and I get it. It's about love. "Look at that wheat, Leslie. It's been there all winter and it's had cold and snow on it and it hasn't been hurt any. See how green it is? How it's coming in spite of everything? That's the way love is."
