Oh, HELL no. The book DID NOT just end like that! The Good - I liked how we got to learn more about the government and the deliria. In this first book, we didn't get to see much of that. At least, that's how I felt. I liked how there wasn't just the Invalids on one side, and the government on the other. There were also the Scavengers, and other people with their own idea of whether they found love a disease or not. - I found the mood of this book different than the first one. Delirium was all steady and calm and underneath all of that was panic. Pandemonium was all action. It was all about escape. There was still a sense of panic, because I didn't know what would happen next. - THE ENDING. My Gosh. That totally caught me off-guard. I admit, I did suspect it, but still. Woah. - Oh, and I really, REALLY love the cover jacket of this book. When I first saw the cover online, I thought it was just okay. But when I had the actual book in my hand and flipped the book around..wow. It's gorgeous! What I love are all the plants and flowers, that actually look real. I've seen too many flowers and graphics on book covers that look fake. If you have the book, take the cover out and open it all the way - it's so damn pretty! The Bad - I didn't exactly enjoy how the chapters kept alternating between then (what happened after Lena went over the fence) and now (the situation Lena was in at the current time). The first chapter confused me, because it began with Lena in a class room, and I thought "Wait, did I miss something? Wasn't she just escaping at the end of Delirium?" But that confusion was cleared when the next chapter began right after her escape, and that's how the story progressed. I didn't like this because it seemed as if there were two stories going on at once, and a couple times when I went to the next chapter, I'd forget what happened last. I'm not sure why Lauren Oliver did this, but I didn't really like it. The In-Betweens - The romance was a bit...off. I didn't feel the chemistry between Lena and Julian. I guess that's mostly because I was so used to Alex, but he just made more sense with Lena. Julian seemed to like Lena because she's the first girl his age that he had this much exposure to. The Characters - Lena changed a lot. She was brutal, mean, and sometimes even a little scary. But I liked this side of her. - Julian was just an okay character for me. I feel as if I don't know much about him yet to decide whether I like him or not. He mostly sounded like a lost puppy, facing a new side of the world and just going along with what others told him to do. - I liked Raven, though there were many times where I resented her. She just seemed so harsh. But it was obvious that what she did was to protect herself and others. Recommended? If you loved Delirium, then you HAVE to read this book. And if you weren't exactly a huge fan, well, I still recommend continuing. It's totally worth it. Oh man, that ending just shook me up. I can't even begin to imagine what'll happen in the third book.
