** spoiler alert ** Almost dying on the operating table would make anyone rethink their priorities. Unfortunately, for Nicki, she came back with an extra ability: she can see and talk to dead people; ghosts who are still lingering. If you watch the "Ghost Whisperer" and like the show, you will like the book. Now she's helping them aside from her normal life. Dr. Joe, the man who saved her life, doesn't believe she's seeing and talking to ghosts. He believes she's halucinating, and it's beginning to put a crimp on their relationship and her style. The story turns into a murder mystery; a friend sells her soul to the devil, through voodoo, to exact revenge on her cheating hubby and the woman he's cheating with. And her ghost won't leave Nicki alone until her killer is caught. The edition of Nicki's gay roomate, Evan, is perfect! Throughout the story, no matter the seriousness of the situation, you'll find yourself laughing. And the ending is perfect set-up for the second book, with many unanswered questions, including the possibility of a twin sister she never knew about. While I found the book entertaining, I won't be going out of my way to get the rest of the series. Should they fall in my lap, I'll read them.
