I liked this one quite a bit! Pendergast is an interesting character, and I thought the story was well-told. While I'm not always enthused about the writing style, I do like that even characters about to be slaughtered have names, backstories, and personalities. I'm also delighted to see that, despite the wrap-up of the Relic storyline, the museum continues to be a major character. That's my favorite part of the series!
Our oldest brought this book home from school and begged to go buy some modeling clay so she could practice what she saw in the pages. She used her allowance money to buy it and then spent hours making rather fantastic creatures. The instructions were very simple and the animals that she made were very much like the pictures in the book. We really liked this book.
The book is not everyone's cup of tea, but Ms. Winterson thinks very highly of it, as she does all things she has ever done. I agree with her this one time only.
