Written about strong willed children from the perspective of a strong willed adult. It is a positive, up-beat work on how to bring out the best in your kids.

Wow. Kingsolover does an amazing job of capturing the essence of The Congo (I lived there, so I know). Each chapter is written from in first person from the different daughters and wife of a baptist missionary during the 60's I believe (pre independance). Although the tale turns a shade dark, it will not leave you with a negative experience of reading it, but instead, wet your appetite for more of her writing and maybe even for an African adventure of your own!

one of my all-time favorite books ever!

One of the first (if not the first) of the Fallen Angel series, and it was a clear reminder of why I like MJ Putney so much. Despite the unlikelihood of a methodist woman falling so swiftly for the gypsy rake, the story is well-told and exciting. Ok, so I did guess the secret about Nikki's previous marriage, but it was fun having my suspicions confirmed.

I wish that I hadn't seen the movie before I read the book.
