Although my mother was the ballet fan this was a book I read with my grandmother. We read it together several times and then I read it at least a dozen more times on my own. Later my daughter read it as well. I loved the story but it never made me want to be a ballet dancer.

I love all of Patchett's books but this one was not my favorite. It took me three or four chapters to really get excited about the characters; unlike her other books where I have fallen in love immediately.

It's amazing how people can be satisfied with their lives when they don't know what they're missing. Introduce that number to the equation and and your eyes are propped wide open.
