This was a great story about a true frontier lady. Jeanette Walls does a great job of letting us experience her grandmother's life in the 1900s. Lily Casey Smith is one tough lady. She becomes a school teacher in her teens and moves to Arizona, then later Chicago. Life throws plenty at her, but she is always up to the challenge. While I liked Walls' first book, "The Glass Castle," better, and the ending of this book is a little awkward to me, I still really enjoyed reading it.

This is the first whole book I read in Spanish, and the first fiction book I read in a foreign language (I'd already read three books in Portuguese).

You may have noticed I am a sucker for stories involving music--especially rock music. The power of music to inspire, influence and move people has always been fascinating to me and I was particularly intrigued to read such a story from the perspective of a deaf protagonist. Piper is just amazing: sweet, smart, funny, angry, cunning and tough. She has a formidable drive and it is wonderful to see her come into her own over the course of the novel. The secondary characters are so great too--not only the band but Piper’s family as well. I thought Antony John really nailed some complex emotional dynamics within the Vaughan household. The story revolves around the band getting their act together but the novel is about so much more than that. It’s about a girl learning how to be a friend, a daughter, a sister, one kick-ass band manager and most importantly, herself. That, my friends, deserves a quadruple air guitar solo.

this book is the best of the series! The action and intensity that takes place in eclipse triumphs the other two books. Even though the book gets more sexual than thee other two, it makes the story more intriguing and more exciting. Bella and Edwards relationship takes it to a whole new level and i think readers will enjoy this most definitely!
