The Cat In The Hat is a very creative book. It rhymes with every sentence. I do not know anyone who can rhyme like Dr. Seuss.

This was the first book read where I joined a local book club and got together to discuss. The overall impression was depressing, but a good read. If anything, it makes you wonder if this is possible in a real life situation. Could you keep a secret for what you think is the benefit of others that you love? Does the guilt catch up to you in the end? Does it break apart love and trust? It would be a sober discussion I'm sure. It's a period of time in the sixties where society is hush-hush about such conditions as Down's Syndrome. A time when women are "taken care of" and not yet prospering in the modern world of women today. A good read, but it does take some time to sit and really absorb the author's writing.

this story was kinda like narnia meets arabian nights. so far each narnia book has had quite a different feel. Lewis hasn't really told the same kind of story twice. this is also the first of the books (possibly the only one) which doesn't contain a crossover into our world (i'll have to see what happens in 'the last battle' which i haven't read yet). chapter 11 was my favourite. i seem quite drawn to the passages which feature dialogue with Aslan. Lewis is often regarded as one of the greatest Christian thinkers in modern times and he certainly has been able to create a character that helps us understand Christ better.
