1980 Caldecott Medal Winner Not sure how these illustrations were done--possibly acrylic and watercolor? This is an interesting story, sometimes almost like a cumulative tale, about a family that makes a bunch of items to sell in the market of a nearby town. Other reviewers point out that it's set in historical New England, although I wouldn't have known that just from the story myself. It seemed to me like it ended sort of abruptly, although I guess if it had gone any further the author would just be telling the story of the father going to market with all of the items over again... but maybe that wouldn't have been a bad thing. End with it coming full circle rather than randomly, with geese.
