I know so many people LOVE this book, but unfortunately I can't say I did. For some reason I just felt like the authors was kind of trying too hard. The characters, the conversations, the happenings.. It all felt unrealistic to me. You know how John Green does weird but still loveable characters so well? I feel like that's because his characters are weird but still feel real and relatable. I felt like that's what this book was trying to do but to me it didn't quite succeed. Still it was a fun read, I didn't hate the book by any means, if I did I wouldn't have finished it. I can see why so many loves this book, but I feel like the writingstyle, characters and plot didn't work for me after reading books by amazing authors like John Green, Stephen Chbosky and Benjamin Alire Sáenz. If I'd read this book years ago I might have liked it, but now I automaticly compare it to everything else I've read, maybe that's why it was just OK for me.. While reading I just had a nagging feeling like the authors was trying too hard and Dash and Lily lacked character depth. A lot of people will disagree with me and say these characters are awesome (because they certainly aren't boring, they are actually very different) but when I read characters like that I need to know more. Why is Dash so snarly? Why is Lily such a loner when she doesn't have any problem at all doing that notebook thing and meeting a stranger? She doesn't seem awkward or like she has a problem talking to people but still she's a loner. At times I just didn't get the main characters. Things they did and said seemed contradicting at times. And the coversations between characters that'd never met before was just like.. Ehhm. Haha, I have weird feelings about this book... I'll just leave my crazy review like this.
